When connecting IoT devices such as cameras, signage, kiosks, or sensors, there are multiple approaches to getting your devices connected.

Unlike wired lines which are expensive and difficult to install or public WiFi which is unreliable, 4G/LTE offers your own reliable connection, no matter where you operate. And unlike narrow-band technologies, LTE offers you high speed and full IP routing, so your applications run without modification.

Here are the 3 most popular ones:

SIM-only

This works well for those IoT devices which have 4G SIM slots available, for tablets or some mini-computers. Ideal to get direct connectivity on your device without further equipment. Blue Wireless offers a range of SIM options either local or roaming, but always pooled, so the usage plan is shared amongst all devices.

Individual Gateway

For connecting larger devices such as Kiosks, CCTV Cameras or Digital Signage, it makes sense to provide it with its own router which includes a SIM card. This way, the connection can be controlled and the device can connect via Ethernet or WIFI. The Cradlepoint IBR200 is ideal for this, offering controlled and secure 4G access anywhere.

Multi-device Gateway

If you have multiple devices at one location such as sensors, a gateway that can handle multiple devices is most efficient. The Cradlepoint IBR600/900 series is dual SIM, can connect up to 64 devices simultaneously and can be operated in areas which are hot, cold, damp, dusty or vibrating, so works well amongst machinery or inside vehicles.
